Created for the $108 Adventure Game Challenge.

Description

Join the Interstellar Survey, they said.

See the galaxy, they said!

They didn't say that you would be experiencing the great unknown through a porthole in the lavatory compartment.

But you know what? It's not that bad.

Sure, they're dismissive, egocentric, underqualified megalomaniacs, but they need you. Credits may make the world go 'round, but custodians keep it from backing up into your sink.

Sometimes, the folks with the grimy hands and the dirty fingernails just have to get the job done.

Join the crew of the SS Navigator, stranded on an alien world with nothing to show for it but a malicious AI, a database full of poorly-written charts, and a poorly stocked galley. Poorly stocked, perhaps, but meticulously maintained, one might add. Will the ship and crew surive? It may be up to the most unlikely duo this side of the sewer pod. Mops and fingers crossed.

Tutorial + Controls

Use your mouse to move and interact. In top-down puzzles, click inside the green area to move your own character. Avoid enemies and trick them into traps!

Hello and congratulations on completing a game. That is a great feat you should be proud of. However, after defeating it, I cannot say this is an adventure game, so I am removing it from the Adventure Game Challenge jam. Best of luck with your future games!

I understand. We did our best but sometimes things don't add up. We will certainly try again at the next adventure game challenge!

I have to agree that this is not an adventure game, but rather a kind of action or puzzle game. I highly recommend that the talking noises either are removed or are varied. That said, I completed the game and found the puzzles okay, although I'm not generally a fan of this type of game. When dying repeatedly, it gives me the same sort of frustration that a platform game does when I cannot make a jump. That's not to say there is anything wrong with the type of game, just that I prefer slower types of gameplay myself.

We got a lot of comments about the speech ;) We'll improve that next time around. Sorry you didn't like the puzzles, I understand your frustration. I would love to do games with more adjustable features, but that is one of the things that require time that jams do not necessarily offer.

There were nothing wrong with the puzzles, it's simply that an old fart like myself plays the games of this adventure jam expecting adventure games. So don't beat yourself up over that. For its genre, the puzzles worked just fine. It's more a game my kids would enjoy, while my slower reflexes makes me struggle a bit.

I'm sorry, but this game doesn't feel like a traditional point 'n click adventure game at all. The controls are clumsy, and there's not a single puzzle in the game. The talking noises were getting on my nerves the whole time.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't like it. We were quite pressed for time and of course would've liked to perform better. However, we did not aim for point'n click but a story-centric adventure with puzzles (evade and trap enemies) - much of which has been left on the cutting room floor.

Good luck for next time! I hope my feedback helps—it’s important to learn from constructive criticism too.
