A micro bookmark RPG

Every group has them – the pet, the companion, the NPC, who is just totally useless. Or at least seems so at first glance. Many groups will default to making them ridiculous: using them as comic relief, wildcards, bait, scapegoats. They make them seem silly or annoying, and have them take silly or annoying actions.

I propose: Coolness lasts longer than jokes. 

Live by the rule of cool. 

Every session one player gets this bookmark as a token, and is designated steward of this NPC. Think about what would make a lasting impression. It should not steal the spotlight from the actual player characters. Make them do something memorable. Don't overthink it – maybe they brought a useful item along, made a gesture of agreement, or stood by someone's side reassuringly. 

Make sure it doesn't become a competition, who has them do the coolest thing. They can still be humorous, of course, but are still a non-player character, and the world does not revolve around them.
